Engrafted Word of God.
James 1:21 Therefore lay apart all filthiness and the superfluity of the wickedness, and receive with meekness the engrafted Word, which is able to save your soul.
Its not just the Word of God that is able to save your soul, it’s the “Engrafted” Word that is able to save your soul.
The word Engrafted is defined as:
“to become grafted and begin functioning normally”
According to “medicinenet.com” Grafting as a medical procedure is defined as:
“Healthy skin, bone, kidney, liver, or other tissue that is taken from one part of the body to replace diseased or injured
tissue removed from another part of the body. For example, skin grafts can be used to cover areas of skin that have been burned.”
A Skin graft can take 7-21 days too fully graft. What this means is you remove the old dead tissue. You replace the tissue with the healthy tissue, and you hold that tissue in place. While held in place a natural “grafting takes place” The tissue begins to mesh with the other tissue until it becomes one with the body in the new area.
This Word “Engrafted” is not used by accident in James 1:21!
Just like the medical procedure of grafting, The Word of God is a procedure of the soul that takes healthy, living tissue, and replaces the old diseased tissue.
When you hear the Word of God, and you begin to let that word permeate your soul, filling up your thoughts, controlling your emotions, fixing your gaze on Christ, infiltrating your motives, and guiding your actions. It takes a love you didn’t have, a peace you didn’t have, a power you didn’t have, a confidence you didn’t have, a joy you didn’t have, and It will graft it into your personality. Grafting takes a little time, just like the medical procedure, you can’t rip off the old dead tissue, and replace it with the new tissue and expect it to graft in a day.
The Spiritual process is no different from that of the medical,
First you must remove the dead old skin,
James 1:21 “Therefore lay apart all filthiness and the superfluity of the wickedness….”
Removing your old way of thinking, doing, and living.
Then you replace the old tissue with the new tissue,
Psalm 119:11 (NLT) “I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.”
Then you have to secure it there,
Joshua 1:8 (AMPC)
“This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good [a]success.”
Keeping the Word in your heart, on your mind, and overflowing out of the mouth and into your actions. This is solidifying its place in your life.
Then you protect the newly grafting tissue,
Proverbs 4:23 (NLT) “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”
Then a natural fusing takes place and the New life have became One with you. You become a new creation!
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
-2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)
“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”
– Isaiah 43:18-19 (ESV)
“Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds. Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.
-Colossians 3:9-10 (NLT)
“And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.”
– Ezekiel 36:26 (NLT)
